Plate Cap Dimensions
10/4/2005 5:55:36 PMRich, W3HWJ
My RCA tube manuals from the 50s and 60s show tube outlines, but no dimensions for plate caps. They simply say "miniature" or "small" or "large" but no data on diameter. Can anyone direct me to dimensioned drawings for plate/grid connectors? I want to turn my own "heat dissipating" caps on my lathe.

Thanks.... Rich

Whern I would buy plate caps they were either 1/4 in dia or the larger 3/8 in dia whn used on receiving tubes. Naturaly the spring tensioned internal "clips" were a skosh smaller to accomodate the application of a spring tensioning to the grip connection. I guess you will have to incorporate a strip of phospor bronze stock internal to your magmificent machined/finned creations to accomodate that feature.
