One side of my rectifier filiment is open. Can i jump the open filament with a 50 ohm 20w resistor? this shopuld work right, the other half of the filament is ok. The filament checks out to about 30ohms, 50 might be high, should i try to get down to 30ohms?

Thanks for your replys, JK

Hi Jeremy: Assume you're referring to the section across the lamp. This section acts like a fuse of sorts. You may have leaky caps in the power supply that did this. You could use a 47 ohm 2 watt resistor but your lamp will surely blow at turn on. Leave the lamp out and the radio should come up playing assuming no other major problems.

Failed to consider the B+ current. A 22 to 30 ohm resistor would be a better choice. Cross your fingers those caps are not leaky or that resistor will smoke.

One section of the 35Z5GT rectifier is open, some one before me has already bypassed the dial light. I tried using 2 100 ohm 10w resistors, in parralel with each other. the tube works, but the resistors become very hot, hotter than i like any way. i guess i might as well buy a new tube. does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks everyone!
