That terminal ties to the speaker lead is just a convenient place to hang your output meter during alignment. Philco (and others) did this on some models.

:Hi , I recently had my long wire antenna questions for this model answered here. And everything is working fine. I've come up with a new sort of related question. On the antenna terminal board there are 4 terminals.Terminals 2-4 go to the internal and external antennas.Terminal 1 goes to the speaker.Does anyone know what this wire is for? I am just curious on this one.I can not come up with a reason for it although I know there is one . Thanks !
I think both of these answers could be right. Now that it has been mentioned I can see an output meter for alignment. That should have struck me ,but I am new at this ! I have adjusted by ear.I lack the signal generator and some knowledge to do a proper alignment.I am headed that way as I learn. The external speaker would be a nice addition to this radio.Does anyone know for a fact that it exists or have any further info ? Thanks again !
That terminal is NOT intended for an external speaker. It is a TEST POINT for alignment for an output meter when aligning.
Adding a second speaker could cause excess current in the output transformer (or power supply) and possibly hurt the set, not to mention the impedance mis-match that can cause distortion.

Chuck , Not only are your right. And are most likely right for the electrical reasons you cited also. But I have other reasons to believe you are on target. If you look closely at the print near the secondary coil to the speaker, I can't make out the first letter but the last three are "ter".That takes some squinting to see.
Only stands to reason the first and second letter is "Me" for "Meter".I did not make sense of it unitl your second e-mail.I am sure some models did have external speakers as Bill suggested. This one does not mention one in the prints.I am not disappointed.I keep learning and the radio stays running. Once again thanks for taking my question !
