Can a weak 455kc signal get through the IF stages? Since you have a signal generator start aligning there.
You may be forcing a 455kc signal through the RF stage? Try setting your signal generator to the radio dial frequency when feeding the RF stage.

:Hey Norm, here is another one for you...I have replaced all the resistors and caps in this radio and began aligning it. The 455kc tone is there but weak. I aligned the RF stages to max the signal, but discovered that the tone goes away as I turn the sig gen down (normal) but after a certain point, it goes away on the up side too. I'm new at this but have never seen that before...it will usually blow your head off when the AVC kicks in. Any thoughts?
