I have a wooden TrueTone Model D-724 made by D.R. Co., Detroit. Can anyone tell me the year and range of market value? It works and looks OK, nothing broken.

Wayne,

I'm guessing it is most likely a Western Auto TrueTone Model D-724, which was outsourced for manufacture. There are two versions of that model, the first was introduced in 1934, the second in 1938. The 1934 model was a battery powered set, the 1938 an AC powered set. I would imagine since you know yours is working its most likely the AC set from 1938. I don't particularly know the market value, if you can find someone with Marty & Sue Bunis' books on radios you may be able to get a valuation, always bear in mind market value is at best a subjective concept. You can find the schematics for these radio's on the Western Auto page of Riders schematics...

You can check the tube lineups to see if it matches your radio.

Hi Wayne, Bunis doesn't list the model D724 but close model numbers that are also table radios are listed in the $50-- to $60-00 price range. I'd take this as a broad idea at best, it depends on condition and what people are prepared to pay. If the D724 is a rarer model it would be worth more. You could look on ebay auctions to see if any are listed and perhaps someone else can give a better estimate here. It would be a nice set to own. Don Black.
