Replacement Dial Window
7/26/2005 6:15:46 PMDean
Hi all,
Could someone refresh my mind as to the person/company who makes replacement plastic molded dial windows? I think the email for him had the word "dial" in it but I might be wrong. Thanks for the help.

Hi Dean

You are thinking about Bill Turner. He has medical problems at present. Hope he's back soon. His site:

Dean,
If you are talking clear plastic dial covers, and would like to take a stab at "do-it-yourself".......check this article........http://hometown.aol.com/EB062559/DIALCOVERS.html

I have purchased the materials to try it myself and I am anxious to see how my attempt at making a dial cover turns out.

Hi

Some use plastic from shrink wrapped items. You know that stuff that's so hard to remove from merchandise.

:Wayne,
I purchased my plastic from a local hobby shop. The shop is a pretty good one and sells lots of stuff for R/C aircraft. Ask for the plastic that R/Cers use to mold canopies for their model planes. It comes in sheets that are approx. 9" x 12" and 2 or 3 different thicknesses. I purchased .015', .020" and .030" thicknesses. The price was $3.95 per sheet. The plastic becomes pliable at about 200 degrees F.....you can use your oven....it is important to place your project in the center of the oven rack so that the heat is as equal as possible over the entire surface of your project.

Thanks for the info. I tried several hobby stores with no luck. I'm anxious to give it a try.

Here is the info I have on the plastic sheets for molding dial covers:
It is sold by a company called K&S Eng. 6917 W 59th St. Chicago, Ill. 60638. Phone number is 773-586-8503.

This link will take you right to there plastics page on their website http://www.ksmetals.com/Accessories/default.asp?Title=Accessories#plasticsheet

When you get to the page scroll all the way down to the last item.

Maybe they can tell you where to find a retailer in your lacale.

Hope this helps
