Howard Radio Co
7/20/2005 6:21:39 AMDavid Corneille
I have an old Howard radio that doesnt seem to fit the models listed on this site. It has a single triode and is battery run. I have pictures. The unit has no speaker but instead has a jack for carbon headset. The Jack has the text:

Howard Radio Co.
Pat pending
4248 N. Western Ave
Chicago, USA

I was told it was the first radio produced in the US with the first tube produced in the US. I was told this by the retired gentleman I got it from, some 35 years ago. I don't think he would intentionally lie to me.

I would appreciate any help in identing this thing.

Hi David

What tube is in your radio? 01 or later 01A were quite often used in radios. Very old might use VT1?

Following is from Radio Manufacturers of the 1920's. In November 1922 Howard began advertising radio parts and by March 1924 had a Neutrodyne license. Early Howard radios in this book are from 1924. He could have bought parts from others for your 1 tube radio?
