Zenith Trans-Oceanic T600

Hey all,

I just picked up a decent Trans-Oceanic T600 from an abandoned house, the case was wet, but cleaned up nicely, and the chassis has no rust or dirt, etc. So after checking all the contacts and tubes I plugged it in - and I got nothing, no light, no tubes lit up, nothing..I see nothing wrong with any of the wiring. Is there something else I should look for? Im leaving for basic next weds, and I'd really like to try to get this one radio going.
Thanks so much
Adam

There is no answer for your question, you will have to supply more information. This radio should be checked over by a person who services radios before being plugged in. How were the tubes checked? Was the 50A1 tested for continuity? This radio used "Black Beauty" capacitors which should be replaced before the radio is plugged in, as they can cause damage to your tubes. The filter capacitors should also be replaced. B+ and filament voltages should also be checked. Two of your tubes are very expensive ($30 ea)and you should take care not to damage them. Never attempt to remove or replace a tube with the radio plugged in or shortly after the radio has been plugged in, damage to the tubes will result. The tubes do not glow brightly as in some radios and it is difficult to see the filaments glow. This is a nice radio but it has some very complex circuits and is not simple to repair.
