Hi,

Someone just gave me a large GE tube radio but I do not see any model number on it! It has FM1, FM2, STD, SW1, SW2, and SW3 for bands. It is in beautiful shape. There is a number scratched into the chassis which is, 953. Any info, value, or schematic would be greatly appreciated. Happy New Year!

The 953 is most likely the model number. The set, having the two FM bands would have been one of the first AM-FM sets out after WWII. The old FM band was still in use prior to spring 1947, and the current band went into use at that time. If it's a console, just get it in shape, and enjoy it. Nice as they are, it's a hard job to give one away, especially at the radio meets.
