need help to identify unknown Crosley radio
4/12/2005 4:29:16 PMBob UK
The radio is a five valve model (6k8gt,6v6g,5y3,6q7g & 6j8g), with the following features: sw, mw & lw bands, external connections for aerial, p/u, ext spkr, magic eye tuning (6u5 valve), controls for tone, volume, band change & tuning. It is housed in a large (36in high) wooden cabinet. There are seven blind holes inside cabinet front for what looks like press button tuning, but no buttons on chassis (same cabinet used with different chassis??), Celestion loudspeaker with transformer mounted on spkr frame. The model was purchased in the UK & has mains voltage range 200-250v ac only. There are no markings/model numbers on chassis other than ht33181 & Crosley Prestotune on glass tuning screen. I have been told the model was purchased in 1939. Can anyone help identify which model it is? ....many thanks.
This is my 2nd posting, but now have photos.

Thanks for replying Ken.
Yes.... that was one of the 1st places I tried, have also tried a couple of US forums & have had a few replies, but no definitive answer as to which model it is. Will keep looking. National Vintage Radio Fair due in Birmingham soon, so may have some luck there.

Bob.

You may have some luck with http://www.radiomuseum.org/firmaindex_usa_en_static.html --perhaps worth a try.

All the best,
John
