1) Replace wet electrolytics (still has original cans on the chassis).
2) Replace line cord (original cloth is gone just copper wires intertwined remain)
3) Replace missing knob
4) Replace missing 2 (red & green) band indicators
5) Replace grille cloth
6) Replace speaker cone
7) Replace damaged/missing scrollwork & veneer
8) Restring or otherwise repair tuning drive.
I hope to take lots of pictures and relate the restoration here on Nostalgia Air... if you have a picture of one please let me know so I can attempt to restore to original as closely as possible.
Thanks,
Richard
PS: I also got a 1940ish Silvertone tabletop with tuning eye & pushbutton tuning, as well as a Philco 60B and a Philco 89. Guess I must have made the nice list this year!
I've sent you a picture of the Bosch 585Z. Post any questions and hopefully we can help.

: I received an American Bosch 585Z console radio circa 1935ish for Christmas. Its a definate fixer upper, the chassis looks clean and untouched fortunately. This radio uses what appears to be a shadow meter and has a 'Centr-o-Matic' tuner. It has four bands, Purple, Black, Red and Green. Purple is the old Police band below the AM Scale, Black is the broadcast (AM) band, Red and Green are shortwave that cover up to around 18Mhz. I need to find a good picture of one of these as its missing the band switch knob, 2 color cyrstals for the band switch indicators, and the grille-cloth is seriously faded and deteriorated (mostly missing). If anyone has a picture I'd greatly appreciate it. The radio has a vernier tuning dial, inner/outer knobs make the fine/course adjustments. The inventory on first glance of repairs is:
: 1) Replace wet electrolytics (still has original cans on the chassis).
: 2) Replace line cord (original cloth is gone just copper wires intertwined remain)
: 3) Replace missing knob
: 4) Replace missing 2 (red & green) band indicators
: 5) Replace grille cloth
: 6) Replace speaker cone
: 7) Replace damaged/missing scrollwork & veneer
: 8) Restring or otherwise repair tuning drive.

Unfortunately the picture you sent is for what I believe is a Bosch 680, not a 585Z. Thanks for the effort, and we'll keep hunting for the 585Z picture.
