Check the oscillator circuit around your 6SA7 tube. When the oscillator doesn't operate sometimes a radio picks up one strong station. Only volume will change by tuning.
When the oscillator operates pin #5 will be several volts negative. If it's not check voltages on the 6SA7 and continuity of the coils. Try another tube even if it tests ok.

:The above radio is about to drive me nuts. The circutry appears to be ok, the various voltages are as they should be. My problem---when I plug the radio in I get the local radio station regardless of where I have the station selector. Not only that, I get it with absolutley no antenna. What have I overlooked?

:Norm,
:Thanks for the advice, I tried it and it didn't solve the problem so I must have something else wrong.
