I’M WORKING ON A SILVERTONE 6106 (RIDER SEARS 19-12) . THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE VOLUME MAXES OUT ABOUT MID WAY AND WEAKENS WHEN TURNED ALL THE WAY UP. WHEN I PLUG IN A FM TUNER TO THE PHONO PLUG, THE VOLUME WORKS FINE. WHERE WOULD BE THE BEST PLACE TO START TROUBLE SHOOTING THE CIRCUIT?
THANKS MIKE

Hi Mike

I would try C21, .01 mfd, coupling cap. If this cap has leakage DC voltage can get to the grid of the 6SQ7 and cause this type problem. Be sure the 15 meg grid resistor is ok.

Mike, make sure the phono recepticle makes good closing contact when the plug is out. Just had same problem on similar radio and it was just gunk in phono plug. DWG
