Zenith consol radio-phono
3/2/2005 12:44:31 AMDanWhere to obtain schematic
Hello: I have a zenith consol that to me at least is unusual. The record player has two 7 inch turntables. One of the tables has what appears to be a 45 changer. The other would require a larger center hole. I have not measured it but i believe it is more than twice the size. This table does not have an auto changer.I have not taken the player out of the cabinet. The radio is a model G 885.Where might I find information on such a unit. Thank you dan

Someone could have modified this unit, though I have never seen it. The schematic looks like the standard Cobra circuit for the phonograph. The tube wiring is interesting as it uses .15 ampere tubes wired in parallel to equal .3 amperes, and these are wired in series with .3 ampere tubes. Thus, if a .15 ampere tube burns out on one side, the remaining .15 ampere tubes will receive .3 amperes and will burn brightly.

Here's the schematic:

Hi Dan,

Your description of the phonograph sounds like the "Zenith Twin Seven", designed to play 7" 33 1/3 rpm and 45 rpm records. A description and service instructions can be found in the resources section of this site.
