Hi
Found my old set in pretty sad shape and also found the coils. With a little help think it will talk again.
The only tube remaining was a 50C5 -And no when I built it 45 years ago did not mark the sockets. Anyone
remember the other tubes? Internet has not been of much help.Seems I recall it being hard on the ears-how would I add an external speaker? Any audio transformer work? If anyone has source for manual please let me know.

Though there are standard tubes that are often used along with the 50C5, simply examining the socket connections usually reveals what kind of tube to use. Sometimes this is not so. As for the output transformer, if the original one still exists, it is simply a matter of purchasing an external speaker that matches the impedance--usually 3.2 ohms. A 3.2 or 4 ohm speaker will work well. If a replacement transformer must be used, purchasing a universal single end transformer from www.tubesandmore.com or some other source will work. Choose the secondary that matches the speaker you wish to use, and choose the primary that gives the maximum wattage without overloading the plate of the tube and without reducing bass response too much. The higher the impedance, the more bass and generally the less wattage. The lower the impedance, generally the opposite of the above.
