Anyone know what's inside a Philco bakelite condenser 4989-SG. I don't find this number listed. The closest the numbers come is a 4989-S. Would they be the same??

Hi,
Have you checked all of the data on Chuck Schwark's site?
http://www.philcorepairbench.com

Not all terminals on those actually get attached internally, and some of them are radio model specific for the extra tie points (look for wires coming out of the rivits). If you have the schematic, (If you do not have one, you should be able to find it here on this site in the schematic section) you can locate the part value in the list and the Philco part number. The only catch is that some of them have a small wire wound resistor burried in the tar, and that is usally marked on the schematic, but no corresponding value will be found on the list, so you end up having to rebuild them.
