I am restoring a 1934 model C8-15 and have replaced 10 capacitors but can only get loud static noise though the speaker. Tubes are all good and has new 6F6 output tube. This tube gets sizzling hot.
Any thoughts on possible problem please let me know. Apreciate your help.

Bob, the 6F6 does get very hot, have you checked with a signal generator on the IF's to see if signal getting though? if your getting static it sounds like your audio amps are working, check your voltages and signal trace back from your speaker until you find a loss of signal could be a a bad coil? is it only static on all bands? did it work before the cap change?

Hi Bob

A 6F6 will get very hot, especially metal. It will burn your hand. Measure voltage between pin #5 and #8 on this tube. If pin #5 is negative 20 volts or so temperature of your 6F6 is probably normal.

Touch the top cap on your 6F5 tube. This should cause hum from the speaker if audio section is ok.

A schematic can be found here if you don't already have one:

Measure plate and screen voltage on each tube. They should be positive.
