RE: Identifying year of make

Hello!
I have recently aquired 2 Emerson Table Top Radios, and I'm in the restoration process right now, what I would like to know is exactly how old these radios are, the Model #'s are 539 and 535, I see so far from the info on here that they are Pre 1948, exactly how far before 1948 is my question.
Thanks!

Mark

Hi Mark,
Emerson 535 is listed in Sams set #8 and the 539 is in set #9. Both are dated January '47.

Hi Mark,
Usually the SAMS Photofacts were issued several months after the radio hit the market. Photofacts issued in January 1947 would be consistent with a radio manufactured in mid-1946, more or less. You can also often date your radio by internal component manufacturer codes. Look for any 6-digit numbers you can find on such items as output transformer, speaker, IF cans, etc. First 3 of these digits will be the manufacturer or "RMA" code, last 3 digits will be the date code. For example, "625" would be the 25th week of 1946.
