I am trying to find a crystal cartridge for an old Philco. There is a metal plate on the back that says Philco model 706A.,made in Toronto, Canada. Another decal refers to 39-7844. I have seen a similar looking unit on ebay that is advertised as a 1946 Philco 1201.
The original cartridge had an opening in which a steel needle was inserted which was tightened by a screw. Any ideas?

If you love your records, though, use a saphire or diamond needle, and try to purchase one with a flexible member that extends forward from the shank to the stylus. This will allow maximum lateral movement with the technology at hand. Still records will not last too long, but it'll be a bit better. The best would be to convert the unit to a piezo electric Zenith Cobra.
