Help with ID of this radio
10/20/2004 4:52:02 PMDean Jones
Hello all,
Was wondering if someone could help me identify this radio. All the radio has on it in the way of labels is "Gloria" on the front. Looks to be from the 30-40s. I have provided this URL (http://www.geocities.com/majbob64/Gloria.htm)to the several pictures available in hopes that one of the experts out there can give a clue as to the manufacturer. Riders has no listings for Gloria, and I can not find a brand cross-reference either. ANY help would be much appreciated. Thanks so much for your time.

Hi Dean,
What are the other 2 tubes in your radio beside the 80 and 24?
Mallory/Yaxley lists "Gloriatone" as being made by U.S. Radio & Television. They made a model "3" but this schematic is not in Rider.
Might try looking in Rider for Voco model V-60. This is a four tube set that uses tubes 80, 24, 35, and 47.
Hope this helps.

WOW! That's some radio! Just look at those tubes! Too bad someone replaced all the condensers with modern units instead of restuffing the cool old ones.

Look at that #80 tube! Isn't that amazing?

Hi Dave,
The other two tubes are both 24s and since I believe a 24 could sub for a 35 I think this is the radio. Actually the V60 is the top schematic and the V-41-N is the 4 tube job we have. This looks like it! We sincerely thank you for your help. Maybe one day we can return the favor! Thanks again.
