Travler 5015 lone wire help
8/29/2004 9:26:46 AMTony W.
Just bought a Trav-ler 5015 to restore and I'm trying to figure out where a wire coming off of the loop ant. is supposed to go. All the other wires on the radio are connected where they're supposed to go. Basically one of the fine white wires of the antenna itself is soldered to a .01 cap and on the other side of the cap there is a larger gauge red wire soldered to the cap and the other end of the red wire is hooked to nothing. Looking at the schematic I can see where this capacitor is and the wire going to it, but the wire coming off of it is the antenna symbol..so does that mean that this "lone" wire I have could be just another antenna? Any insight would be appreciated! (If you can't tell by now, I'm new to the world of antique radio repair ;) )

Thanks again,
Tony

Hi Tony,
Looking at the schematic, the wire you mention is simply a connection for an external (outdoor) antenna.
Radio should play fine using the loop antenna on the back of the set.

Dave
