Philco 37-116

I just purchased a Philco 37-116 console radio. When I brought it home I started to look it over and I started to form a few questions. If anyone with one of these models can answer any of the following, it would be greatly appreciated: What style of knobs belong on the radio?-mine don't seem to fit. The ones on the radio right now are the style that belong a Philco 40-190 or 41-608 console. They are #P-K181 in the Antique Electronic Supply catalog. What style of dial lamps belong in this particular set? None were in my set when I purchased it. Lastly, Where can I locate some verneer for this set?-it needs some badly. You can reach me at jtillich@wcf.net. Thanks much, Nick Tillich/radioboy jr.

Nick,

Congratulations on being a new owner of such a fine radio!
I have a 38-116 (1938 model, yours is 1937) and it just
sounds so much better than modern AM radios.

Your set has the correct knobs. It should be a 1" approx.
round knurled knob with a small triangular pointer. The
band switch knob will be a lever-style knob, and the tuning
knobs will appear similar to the volume control knob.

The dial lamps are type 44, and the set should have three, I believe.
Two of them only light when the Magnetic Tuning switch is
in the on position.

Sad to hear you need veneer for this radio. Sorry,
I'm not much help on that one.

Good luck, and I know you'll enjoy this radio when it is
finished!

Look up http:/www.CONSTANTINES.com. They have veneers of woods that you can't pronounce, much less having ever heard of. They carry anything related to wood that there is.
