Hi:

I am looking for a schematic for a Philco Model 884 radio. I wasn't able to find it on this site.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Gary

Hi Gary

Didn't find a Philco 884 listed as being manufactured in the US. Was the radio made in another country?

The label says Made In Canada.

Hi Gary

That makes a big difference. Model numbers weren't the same in US & Canada. I didn't find 884 but will forward this to Ed in Canada. He may be able to find it?

Hi Gary,

How old do think the radio is? I can only find an N-884 in the RCC index. It would be in supplement 74 outside of the RCC data that I have. I would guess in the 60's.

Do you have a list of the tubes for a further search.

Ed.

:Hi Ed,

The 60's is probably a good guess.

The tube line up is 35W4, 50C5, 12BE6, 12BA6 & 12AV6. The radio has a small wooden case. Tubes and components are mounted on a printed circuit board.

Gary.

Hi Gary,

My RCC data is only to 1955 but that should be a fairly popular circuit bein an AA5. If you are in Canada you may find the more current RCC schematics in the reference section of a large library.

:Ed,

Thanks for taking the time to help.

At the risk of sounding stupid, what is an AA5?

Gary

AA5 is "All American 5" a term used for AC/DC 5 tube radios. Most used the same or similar tubes and circuits and should be fairly easy to troubleshoot. Perhaps others may wish to comment further.

Hi

Here is a schematic of RCA 1X51. It's an AA5. Noticed the second schematic which matches your tubes. Hope this helps.
