6BZ6 replacement for 6BA6 ?
6/27/2004 2:13:22 PMNate Hardenburg
I am trying to bring a Westinghouse H-161 back to life. The 6BA6's have been replaced with 6BZ6's. The tubes are very similar, but NJ7P database does not cross link them as replacements. Any thoughts or advice on this would be appreciated.

Hi Nate
My cross reference book list the 6bz6 as a possible replacement for the 6ba6. However, a note indicate "may not work in all circuits". Good luck.

Hi

A 6BZ6 will replace 6BA6 if pins #2 and #7 are tied together in a radio or TV. Tubes have these pins reversed, basing 7BK and 7CM. 6BA6 was originally used in radios IF stages. 6BZ6 was made for TV IF stages and has higher gain.
