Capacitor Values of Radiola III question
6/24/2004 10:16:30 AMPaul
Hi,
I have a Radiola III that is missing some of the capitors (the ones on the ariel binding posts). I have looked at the schematic provided by Nostalgia air and it looks like the values are hand writen in. (eg: .0005, .00025, .00001). How are these caps translated into uf. or pf. values? I just wanted to make sure I look for the correct values to install in this receiver. Thank you in advance for any information you can provide.

Hi Paul

.0005 is 500 pf, .00025 is 250 pf. .00001 is 10 pf. Alan Douglas and I measured caps in a Radiola lll. Neither of us got the same readings or similar to what's written in Rider.

These capacitors effect the range of tuning and control capacity coupling to an antenna. They aren't critical but you might want to change values later if the radio doesn't cover the frequency range you expect.

You can use 864's as replacement for WD11's with a base change. These tubes have the same rating but look different inside. I'll send you information on other ways to make these tubes.. 864's are expensive.
