Victrola Model 8V90

Hi all, I just found a turntable/tuner cabinet out at the dumpster of my apartment complex. The label inside says it is a Model 8V90. The finish on the wood is a little rough on the outside, but the electronics appear good. Looks like the original tubes. Haven't tried plugging it in yet. Anyone know anything about it? There is a link on this site that implies that it is pre-1951, is that accurate? Thanks.

Hi

RCA 8V90 is listed as being made in 1949, Collectors Guide to Antique Radios, Vol #4.

This site will have a schematic and technical data.

There is an ad for Victrola model 8V90 on ebay from Life Magazine year 1948 which has more info. Also, the manuals are listed as well.

Please do not plug it in until you do some initial parts replacement and testing. Replace the filters and eventually all the paper capacitors. Do some testing to see if there are any shorted components. We would hate to see your dumpster treasure go up in smoke.
