5M3 Schematic Q
6/4/2004 5:48:51 PMLee
Greetings,

Boy could I use a hand here.... I'm trying to recap a nice old 5M3 and all of the schematics I have found do not match the parts lists. Example, where does item 49, 50 or 45 match up with the schematic!? Does anyone have a real Crosley service manual for this little tombstone? YIKES.

Best, Lee

Hi Lee

That schematic in Rider sure looks like a Crosley print. They numbered everything instead of listing values. I couldn't find those items either. Are parts marked in your radio? See if you can go by values already in your radio?

In the parts list, these part numbers seem to represent two section caps with one common connection

45-46 .1 mfd (x2) at 200v
47-48 and 49-50 .02 mfd (x2) at 200v

The following caps on the schematic have no coresponding part number in the Rider's parts list

10-11 \
12-13 I'm pairing these off since they also have common connections.
14-15 /

My guess (and it's nothing more than a guess) is that these parts were re-numbered by a Crosley engineer. Rider might have an early version schematic and a late version parts list. I would bet (and this is also just a guess) that they corespond to each other in numerical order: i.e., 10 & 11 = 45 & 46, 12 & 13 = 47 & 48, and 14 & 15 = 49 & 50.

One more guess: It could be that parts 10 thru 15 were originally individual caps, not two-section caps.
