Need some help please!!

My mom's fiance's friend Jeff bought a Sears Silvertone wire recorder at an auction not too long ago. It works and it came with spools of wire with various things recorded on them, but we are completely dumb about where (and if!) we could buy more wire and more tubes for it. I am not completely sure about the model number because someone thought it a good idea to scratch that valuable peice of information off the recorder. Any insight as to where I could look for information on it would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!

There was a brief discussion about these, three or four weeks ago, on either the rec.antiques.radio+phono newsgroup, or in the Antique Radio Forum. A search under "Silvertone wire recorder" in Google or Google Groups would probably find it.

Tubes are easy: Antique Electronic Supply and many other tube dealers have them. Tubes from the late 1940s are pretty common. Wire I don't know.
