philco model 20 bakelite cap....wirewound resistor?

Hello, I am recapping a philco 20 and it has a 3615-k on the side of it. According to the data, it is a .o5uf cap and a 250 ohm wirewound resistor. Do I have to replace the resistor with another wire wound one or can I just put in another 1/4 watt 250 ohm one.

Hi Sean

You don't need high wattage, wirewound. Only 2 volts will dropped across this resistor. Why replace the original? It's actually wire and usually still ok.

Hi Sean,
You cant get out of the Bakelite housing with out ruining it Norm.
Just use a regular resistor, Sean 250 ohms # 2 to # 3
