Erla Model S-11 Service information
4/19/2004 4:56:07 PMCarl Crabtree
Still looking for service data for the ERLA Model S-11.Checked out CW Tavis' Suggestion about Sentinel S-11 but the ERLA is quite different. The tube line up is five Cunningham CX301As. There are three unusal Doughnut shaped coils-each tuned by separate variable capacitors. I have determined that the interstage audio transformers are not usable. Maybe someone knows what transformers would work as substitutes. Any information on this radio would be helpful and appreciated. thanks

Hi Carl

You can use transformer similar to A-53C, Ratio 1:3, for audio interstage. They can be purchased from AES, www.tubesandmore.com and PTOP, www.oldradioparts.com .

Not all 1920's battery radios have schematics available. Use Stewart Warner 300 series schematics if you don't find Erla S11. Available Erla schematics can be found here:

Hi, Carl.

Can't help you with what you are looking for. Just wanted to let you know that I have the first radio that was in the town of La Fontaine, IN. It is an Erla Model S 11, Serial number 18939. It has a Cunningham Cx301A in the 1st and 5th sockets and a Crusader SLX201A in sockets 2,3, &4. I had it completely restored. It looks just like a new 1925 Erla. Also had it converted to a battery eliminator.
Worked really well at the restorer's place. I haven't used it at my place because I don't have an outdoor antenna for it. It really should be in a museum. It just sits there not being used. Do you have any information on these early Erlas? Just thought you might be interested in my radio. It belonged to my grandfather. I am nearly 69.
