:Sorry about that (new to your forum and I inadvertently hit the "enter" key.)

What I wished to know is: is it possible to sub. a 245 with a 45 tube?

Thanks

Hi,
Yes you can. If I'm right, 245 is globe type triode(older, rare and very expensive) and 45 is coke bottle type triode (less expensive(!) and more in market). Also 145, 345 and UX-245 are good too, but not 845!

bye!

The 45 and the 245 are the same, the 245 usually has a prefix like UX ( UX-245 ) The UX-245 should be the older type globe tube. Check the two large pins filaments for continiuty, I saved a couple of UX-245's by resoldering the broken filament wires back into pins, might be worth a try.
