The main power transformer (T1)on my Model 811K is bad. Can anyone suggest a good (new) replacement? Thanks!

Hi Larry

Antique Electronic Supply, tubesandmore.com , sells transformers but they are expensive. First determine the current rating needed. You need 6.3 volt filaments, 5 volt filament and high voltage winding. The 5 volts is used for a 5T4 tube so that winding is 2 amps. Use the tube manual to determine the filament current of all the other tubes. (6.3 volt winding) The tube manual will also give typical B+ currents for tubes. Add these up to determine the current required from the high voltage winding.

You might contact Alan Jesperson - he advertises radio services
frequently in Antique Radio Classified. he does rewind
spkr field coils & does a nice job and may also rewind
power transformers. If not, he may know who can.
his email address is MTE612@aol.com.

good luck !

Jim

Also check the listing I rattled off for Myron's question on the Eico.

A conventional power transformer can be used in thi set, as Norm has said, BUT there is also a 24 Volt winding for the motor driven automatic tuning system. There are 24 Volt transformers made about 1 Amp rating that can be mounted on the chassis near the power transformer. It will probably be 700V. CT, 5V.@3 A.,6.3V.@5A. and add the 24 V. Transformer.
