No tube is a direct sub for a #45. A 2A3 will work but draws more current. If you have a 31 it will work as long as limits aren't exceeded.

You can use a 1619 with adapter. For these tubes tie grid #2, #3 and plate together and use as plate of the 45. Could use a 46 or 47 with an adapter. Again tie screen & plate together.

There are still plenty of 45's available. AES had recently received a whole gob of tested used 45's at reasonable pricing. I grabbed 3 of them myself.
