Hallicrafters SX-100 tube question
4/11/2004 12:42:09 AMMike
I have a Hallicrafters SX-100 mk II with a busted tube. The only label on the tube location diagram is XTAL 100 K.C. and it is right next to a 6AU6. I gather from the schematic that it has to do with the crystal calibration.

The only markings on the busted tube are Northern Engineering Labs, T-9D, 100k.c. and 19B1915.

If someone could point me in the right direction to find a replacement, I would greatly appreciate it.

Your "tube" is your marker crystal, The 19B1915 is the part number. Your set will operate without it, although you will not have your 100kc markers for alignment or reference.

Hi Mike

You might be able to use the crystal even with broken glass. They don't require a vacumm to operate. If the glass is there might try some type of glue to keep it together?

Thanks for the responses, folks. Nice to know I can get away without it (for now).

The glass is broken right off and the square part in the middle flops around, so I guess it is beyond repair

Mike

you may be able to resolder the crystal to the base, the crystal still should be OK.

Dave,
Thanks again. I'll take a closer look to see if I can figure out how it is attached. Is there a diagram or picture someplace that shows me what it should look like?
