Hey guys,
the schematics say the six tube line up is:
50L6 35z5 14B6 7B7 7A8 7B7.
However, when I bought this radio there were no tubes installed.
Now, where the octal type 50L6 should be, there is a peanut tube 7 pin socket. The socket looks factory installed and not hobbyist installed.
What 7 pin tube was being used in place of the 50L6?
Thank you,
Greg

Hi Greg
50B5 and 50C5 are 7 pin tubes similar to 50L6GT. These two types are not interchangeable. Being an older radio might be 50B5.
Very important... 50B5 plate is pin #5. 50C5 plate is pin #7. This will be the pin where your output transformer is connected. Use this to identify tube type.

Norm,
Thanks for your assistance with the Philco chassis.
I went to another radio shack store. This time, they had a 47K resistor in stock. Installed the resistor.
Then, we worked on the tube lineup.
The radio would not play with the 50B5.
So, I tried the 50C5 and after warm up she worked well.
Thanks for your help- again, and again!
