Hello radiophiles:
Several Zenith radio models during the 50s were built with variable capacitors that have internal gear-down mechanisms. When they work, the tuning has a nice feel to it, and is more precise. The R511 series, and Royal 500s are among the sets that had these. Does anyone know what, if anything can be done when the mechanism seizes and you end with a hard turning one-to-one gear ratio?
Thanks for any advice,
Tdzimn

This may look trite, but - spray it with wd40 and work it. I've freed a number of such things this way.
