Why not use 10 mfd @ 450 volt caps. These are modern values and will filter better than 6 mfd. Years ago larger values weren't available or were expensive. Today they are very small and can be hidden under the chassis.

An electro dynamic speaker is a different issue. If you have the original it may be repairable? If only a frame there are people who rebuild speakers.
