Atwater Kent 10B transformer needed
3/6/1998 11:11:53 PMMike Srock
I am looking for audio transformers for an AK 10B breadboard radio.
Does anyone know of a source for replacements?
Anyone have a spare they would be willing to part with?

I saw a web page once that described using transformers out of
old telephones that were exact replacements. If anyone knows about
this or the web site address it would be greatly appreciated.

email me if you have a spare transformer or post a message here if
you know of a source of replacements.

Thanks!

Just a note. If you cannot get the radio to work and want to sell it, please let me know. It would be nice to own a breadboard even if it did not work.
Thanks, Glenn

I have been using the interstage transformers removed from AK 20 "big box" radios as a replacement. They are the exact same "hedgehog" rod-iron design.

You can buy these radios on ebay for about 100.00, and salvage many parts from them; expecially the interstage transformers.
To remove them from the can, just heat the outside with a low flame and pull the transformer out by the wires.

Mike,
I posted a request for the same part several weeks ago
and didn't get any response. However in the mean time I got a local custom transformer shop to make me two for the TA unit in my Model 10. They should have the information but if they don't I still have a copy. The company is called CTM and they are in Tempe Arizona. The phone number is 602-967-9447. The owners name is Dave Miller.I don't know what they will charge but they did an excellent job. You will have to reuse the iron wire from the core of the original unit or get some new wire. I hope this helps.
Regards
Dave Lambert

I ordered a 3:1 interstage transformer from AES that fits inside the can just fine and performs really well. My radio works great now!
