RCA T-80

I am restoring a RCA T-80 and was hoping that some kind soul would have a digitized schematic they could/would send me. Also, what the dickens makes the 6U5 so very expensive ? I understand now why the slot was empty and taped over, although I do intend to replace it.
Any response will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Pete.

Hi Pete

The RCA T80 information has been sent.

Since the 6U5 tubes start to lose green glow after a few hundred hours there is a big demand for them. Many of these tubes are for sale at flea markets or swap meets but they may not have a green glow in a radio. They may test good on a tube tester meter without having the required green glow.

For radios with a power transformer using parallel wired filaments you may want to consider the 6AB5. It's not as well known as 6U5 so is less expensive.
