New Find: GE C-404B
2/6/2004 3:58:52 AMTRH
Came across a new find today! ...

It's a GE C-404B BLUE (the label also lists a C-403B WHITE). As the model suggests it's a plastic light turqoise blue radio. It's AM and has a clock on one side. There is a tube diagram that mentions: 12BE6 12BAG 35W4 12AV6 50C5. It's got a large round clear plastic tuner knob and below it the volume. It also says it's a superheterodyne however there's not much else left to the label. Looks pretty good - just needs an ON/OFF/AUTO knob.

If anyone is familiar w/ about where this model might fall date-wise - much appreciated!

thanks!

Hi Norm! Thanks very much - I'm sure you don't recall but you were a tremendous help w/ my first 'old' radio a '49 Airline that I got working (I need to tackle the hum problem some day).

This is a 5 tube radio - the tubes are the smaller type than my older Airline - is it still considered part of the AA5 'family'?

thanks again,

If you live near San Diego, CA, or St. Louis, MO, you might find the on-off knob for this radio at Gateway Electronics. Last time I went into the SD store they had a lot of clock-radio on-off knobs. If you don't live near SD or StL, you might want to look for an electronics surplus store in your area. There are lots of old parts around.
