01-A and 00-A settings for Jackson 648 tube tester

The special tube data chart I have for this tester has almost every early tube type. But, it doesn't have these two.

I know the filaments are set to 5.0 volts and the standard 4D base setting seems to be (upper) 1-2 (lower) A-3-4. I just need the plate setting and the test button (U-V-W-X-Y-Z) sequence.

Thanks.

Hi Steven

Set up your tester for a #26 tube and increase filament voltage to 5 volts. Tubes will work even if they show a little weak.

Norm (and anybody else who is interested)

The 26 settings didn't work right. Nor the 12A or 71A settings. They all tested weak, yet I've checked these 01A tubes in other testers and they've all tested strong. One of these testers is a Heathkit I keep as a spare. They all test near the center of the green on it.

After a little research, I found that the 27 tube has the closest combination of amplification factor and transconductance to the 01A. After a little experimenting using a combination of the 26 and 27 settings, here's the setting that makes these tubes check almost the same on my Jackson as they do on my Heathkit.

Fil: 5.0
Upper row: 1-2
Lower row: A-3-4
Plate: 22
Pushbuttons: WY

This is only for the 01A. I don't know what the settings for an 00A would be. The one I have now has an open filament, which it didn't have a few years ago.

Hey, I have recently acquired a Jackson 648a. I have to test some old tubes including an arturus 145, but I don't have the Special Tube Data Sheet. Can you scan it and send me a copy? If not, could you give me the test settings for a 145? My email is mitch@AISUSA.com

Hi Mitch

Arcturus 145 is same as a 45 tube. On these older tubes just drop the prefix.
