: Howdy, just passing through and thought I'd ask for a little help. I have an old SC sau-22 mono p.a. amplifier (20 watts) which I've used from time to time. Great little amp, but lately it's losing power output. I get some volume, but not like I used to. It looks like a mid-50's model, with a 12ax7 pre-gain stage, one 7687, two el84's, and one 5y3gt for output. Not a very high power amp, but one that I like for the sound quality. I'd like to put a little life back into it and use it again. I know it could be something as simple as new tubes, which would probably be a good place to start, but if it's something more serious than that, I'd like to have some schematics to reference. Anyone know where I might be able to find them for this model. Any help would be appreciated. Feel free to email me with other questions or info. Thanks to all.

My vote would be for leaky coupling capacitors. That amplifier will date into the early fifties, back when men were men, and amplifiers were good. I will soon be refurbishing an S-C amplifier from the same era; a AU-36. This is a 50 watt unit that should also sound great. All caps WILL be replaced.
