This is an interesting radio chassis to work on because it is upside down.
May I substitute a #44 lamp for the #47 lamp?
The chart at this site shows they are similar.
Thank you,
Buddy

Hi Buddy

Interesting, you have a radio with a 35Z5 rectifier which is series wired. This type of radio uses a #47 lamp, 150 ma rating. Your schematic calls for a #44 lamp which requires 250 ma. Lamp will be dim with a #44. A #47 will work & be brighter but there may be some reason Setchell Carlson didn't want more light?

Hi,

Heat may have been a consideration based on how cramped the cabinet is.
