RCA Model VC-17 Phono
10/28/2003 6:02:02 AMLarry Rickard
I've recently acquired an RCA VC-17 stereo phonograph, probably of mid to early 50's vintage. The cabinet is garbage but it has a nice little stereo amplifier (6BQ5's)and speakers that seem worthy of fixing up. Does anyone out there have the schematic? Its probably going to be in Sam's Photofacts (it appears to be too "new" to be covered in Rider's).

Thanks in advance,
Larry Rickard

Hi Larry,
These were good amplifiers. The same amp was used in several different RCA models in 1959/1960 (Amp chassis RS-171D or RS-171F). The speaker sizes and configuration will vary according to the cabinet. I have a model PM-19 which is a phono-only "Victrola" console, with matching remote stereo speaker cabinet, which uses the same amp as yours. These are covered in SAMS Photofact #500-13 (Sept. 1960).

Thanks, Poston.

What I'm doing is rebuilding the amplifier in a different chassis because the original was quite beat up. The amp works, though and does sound great.

Is there any way you could e-mail me a copy of the schematic? I don't really need the entire photofact. If you can't, I'll understand. If you can, I'll be most grateful!

Best Regards,
Larry

Larry,
I will be glad to send you a schematic, but don't have a scanner at present. But if you will email me with your address I can get a xerox copy out to you via US mail.
