Identification of Emerson Radiogram circa 1932
9/27/2003 6:08:41 PMAnton Cuschieri
I bought recently an Emerson radiogram for which I need a circuit diagram, but am unable to identify the model because of a missing back cover and my inexperience with this make.

Which is the best way to identify clearly this model in order to get a circuit diagram for it? Can anyone please help? I could possibly send a photo.

Hi Anton

Listing tube types may help?

The valve line up is as follows
Two type 42 in push-pull output
two 6D6
One type 75
One type 6A7
Rectifier type 80

The mains transformer is to the extreme left on the chassis, and the output is very small and on the right side when looking at the chassis from the front.
The resistors look like boats with pointed end for colour code reading direction

Hi Anton

Emerson made a lot of radios but not many had 7 tubes (valves). Your radio would be Model 71 (AW7). A schematic can be found at:

http://ww3.nostalgiaair.org/schematics/ERP/_ERP_5-9.gif

It's listed in Collectors Guide to Antique Radios as being made in 1934 and worth $100=$125.

:Hi Norm,

Thanks a million for identifying my Emerson, and for supplying me with a circuit diagram.
My radio seems to have been messed up quite a bit, or could it be that there were some rather comprehensive variations to the basic circuit?
Would it be possible to have a parts list with clearer values of the components? Some are very difficult to read.

Hi Anton

Emailed you the schematic. Parts values are readable.

Hi Norm,

Thanks once again for your help. If only all forums and people participating were so helpful.
