PHILCO 38-10

Does anyone know why the antenna terminals on the back
of PHILCO 38-10 are marked red and black. The set seems
to play well on the red terminal picking up medium wave
and shortwave. Is the single screw black terminal for a
2nd antenna. I do not have the manual for this radio,so
thanks for any information provided.

Hi Tom

Either lead can be used for antenna, red or black. Red & black are used if you have a balanced antenna with two leads such as a dipole. Older TV's using 300 ohm lead had two wires. This is a similar case. Both are antenna wires.
