Crosley 11-120U with bad reception

I am working on a Crosley 11-120U "dashboard" and have run into a problem. As the radio powers up, it sounds good, then the station strength fades and static takes over. If I dial down the voltage on my variac, the strong reception returns. I have changed all the tubes, recapped the set, and checked all the resistors. When checking voltages, the only socket voltage that seems off is on the IF Amplifier, 12BA6, socket 5 which runs to the 2nd IF transformer. Voltage there is 0, and should be around 88V. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi,
It sounds like a cold solder joint in the vicinity of the IF in question, or a hidden cap inside of the IF can. It could possibly even be just a cold solder joint inside of the IF can in question.
