Hallicrafters S-40B information needed
9/20/2003 1:34:36 PMZach Omega
I am restoring my father's Hallicrafters S-40B.
He bought it at an auction and it needs some help.

First, does anybody have a schematic, parts layout, or service manual?

Secondly, the string that connects all of the controls came off. How do I connect this and how do I calibrate it?

Thirdly, it is missing on of the bulbs. One of them is there. It is a number 44 (if memory serves me)...Is this the correct bulb and is the other one the same bulb?

Anything else I should know about this radio?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi Zack

Here are two places you can find information on the radio:

http://www.nostalgiaair.org/Riders/HAL.htm

http://bama.sbc.edu/hallicra.htm

Number 44 lamp would be correct. It's rated at 6 volts .25 amps.

Hi, my name is Jim Mandelik & I also am restoring an S-40B. Norm, I obtained an excellent reproduction of the operating & service manual from Ken Rosenow in Free Soil, MI. His Web site is www.radioreprints.com & you may email him at ken@radioreprints.com. I hope this helps.
