Located a rare 'The Sparks Ensemble' with the tuner, power converter, record changer and Magnavox speaker removed from the console but in the same antiques store. The 'Sparton Power Converter ' is model 103 was made by Autorad Electric Corporation, Adrian, Michigan and uses 2- UX-250 tubes and 2 - 281 tubes. The 250 tubes test good, the 281's need replacing. The console is in VG condition. Any information re this piece would be appreciated. A challenge for any person brave enough to want a restoration project.

Hi Colin

Sparton used 50's & 81's in some of their better radios. (586 is same as 50) A couple model numbers are 301 & 740. Information can be found here:

Save the UX281's. Even if weak they will probably still work. If not, they can still be used for display. Good used UX250's can sell for $175 each. (George Fathauer's price list, others may want more.)
