Admiral Console Radio, Need Help to Identify Model ????
8/12/2003 11:24:05 PMJoseph Barnard
I am trying to determine the model number of an Admiral console radio. It has been in my family since new and my father listened to it as a kid. I believe it is from the early to mid 30's era. The chassis has an 'F-5' on the back edge. It is a 10 tube (11 counting the tuning tube), BC, Police, SW and Weather bands. It uses the following tubes:
1 - 6A8 2 - 6C5 2 - 6F6
1 - 6H6 3 - 6K7 1 - 5Z3
1 - 6U5 (Tuning Eye)
I am wanting to restore this radio to new condition and I am needing the schematic.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Joseph

Try model AM7, Rider 11-20. You will find some slight differences such as eye tube is 6G5 instead of 6U5 but these are interchangeable. Admiral in under Continental Radio in Rider, available here on nostalgiaair.

Thanks Norm. Thats where I found it last night. I assume the 11 means volume 11 of Riters. Nostalgia Air has a great web site. Lots of useful info and reference. I'll be back often.

I found the radio model to be a Continental Radio & Television Corp AM8. I've only found 1 other on the internet and it was a model AM7. Just a slight difference in the colsole case from the AM8. Does anyone happen to have any information (alignment procedure, parts list, advertisement, etc.) on the AM8? My goal is a complete restore to original condition. The copper platted chassis is in great shape and not require re-platting. Other then the cap's, some resistors, and veneer missing on top, this radio is in excellent shape. Any advice or gotcha's would be appreciated.
